Rural & Community Health Publications

This Toolbox section provides a glimpse of the plethora of publications available on rural and community health topics. There is no scarcity of material regularly published on community health tools, strategies and resources—the issue for rural leaders, community planners and advocates for the underserved is more a decision of what not to read.

For instance, nearly every one of the 64 organizations and agencies featured in Toolbox Section Internet Resources offers one or more publications. Most organizations for health professionals, public health or nonprofit administrators, health facility managers, health care policy groups, economic developers, etc., provide market-based magazines, update bulletins or niche-rich newsletters to their members. Federal agencies can barely keep current their lists of available publications, and the shelves of public and university libraries groan under the weight of worthy volumes.

This Toolbox provides just a sample of such rural health reading choices.
