The State of Rural Health
Welcome

This compilation of Internet resources is intended to serve as a starting point for Texas communities, especially those in rural areas, who ask, “What is it we can do to help shape a healthier future for ourselves?”

The Toolbox strives to aid in the mobilization and creation of healthier communities by supplying self-study components on topics ranging from assessing community needs to recruitment and retention of caregivers, to infrastructure and economic development issues.

Because the study of community health in Texas looms as large as the state itself, to avoid overwhelming users, the information in this Toolbox was designed to be representative rather than comprehensive. Public domain and/or nonprofit sources of information and support form the basis of The Toolbox, so please note that any mention of fee-paid consultants is intended as information only, not as an endorsement.

This website is the third version of the Toolbox. Previous versions included a boxed set of resources and an annotated outline. For further information and background about the development of the Toolbox, see About Us.

As you use this resource, please complete our short user evaluation survey. In distributing this Toolbox resource to interested individuals, communities and agencies, the producers hope to enlarge the vision of a healthier Texas by continually refining and updating its information. We welcome your input!

Thank you for helping shape the future of community health care in Texas!
